Menghai Banpen Ancient Tree Sun-dried White Tea

US $69.50 – US $347.50

Sourced from the prestigious Banpen region of Menghai, merely 3 kilometers from famed Banzhang in Bulang Mountains, this exceptional white tea flourishes at 1,600-1,750 meters elevation. Selected from 70-90 year old arbor trees growing naturally in ecological forest conditions, the leaves undergo traditional sun-drying processing. The well-defined, bright leaves brew a translucent, light yellow liquor that carries distinctive notes of wild flowers, honey, and mountain essence. With remarkable complexity that develops through aging and powerful tea energy, each infusion unfolds like moonlight emerging from mountain mist, offering a profound tasting experience particularly appreciated by seasoned tea connoisseurs.

Description

Originating from the Banpen tea region of Menghai, just 3 kilometers from the renowned Banzhang area within the Bulang Mountain terroir. This mystical tea region, at elevations of 1,600-1,750 meters, is blessed with abundant rainfall, generous sunlight, and rich yellow-brown soil, nurturing white tea of distinctive character.

Traditional Craftsmanship:
Following traditional sun-drying techniques, the process focuses on picking, withering, and natural drying, minimizing human intervention to preserve the tea’s pure wild character and gentle nature. The tea trees grow naturally under the forest canopy, without pesticides or fertilizers, maintaining completely ecological cultivation methods.

Quality Characteristics:
– Appearance: Well-spread buds and leaves, showing clear definition, bright and clean dry tea
– Aroma: Wild flowers, fruits, and honey notes mingled with sunshine and mountain wilderness
– Tea Liquor: Light yellow and translucent, clear and sweet, with smooth, silky texture
– Taste: Clear and gentle like moonlight, with lasting sweetness and powerful tea energy

Aging Potential:
Fresh tea carries mountain wilderness notes, which gradually transform over one to three months, as the fresh character gives way to more complex layers. Each infusion offers a different experience, like the moon slowly emerging from the mist – wild yet elegant, ultimately filling the night sky with serene moonlight.

Brewing Guide:
– Tea Amount: 5-8 grams
– Water Temperature: 85-95°C
– Steeping Time: 1-3 seconds
– Water Quality: Recommended to use pure or mineral water
– Special Note: First infusion awakens the tea, optimal drinking begins from second infusion

Selected from 70-90 year old large trees, carrying the unique mountain character of the Banpen tea region. This is a precious collector’s white tea, particularly suitable for experienced tea enthusiasts seeking powerful tea energy.

Longjing 龙井 is grown in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, which literally translates to "dragon well," Longjing tea was granted the status of imperial tea, in the Qing dynasty by the Kangxi Emperor. Longjing tea tastes sweet, mellow, and rounded. Pre-Qingming Longjing Pre-Qingming Longjing tea requires it to be produced from the first spring shoots prior to the Qingming Festival (Chinese farming calendar) on the 5th of April each year. There will usually be seasonal rain for a few days during the Qingming Festival. Indeed, after the rain, the temperature heats up, which accelerates the growth of the tea plant. When the tea bud gets too big, it starts to lose complexity in the brewed flavor, therefore, Pre-Qingming tea is considered better.
